Becoming More Comfortable Financially
You may want to consider becoming more comfortable financially first in your quest for early retirement.
Of course, there's nothing wrong with becoming wealthy beyond your wildest dreams.
(And, for the most part, that's the point of this entire website!)
However, don't be afraid to enjoy the process as you work on your goal of leaving the rat race early.
Although you need to have huge goals and you need to focus on that which will result on you accumulationg the assets needed to retire way before the masses do, you also need to focus on enjoying each and every moment of your plan.
Too many people become miserable and unhappy "today" because they're so focused on the thought process telling them that they'll "someday" become happy after they achieve their financial success.
Once you've laid out your long term path to wealth, step back and concentrate on having fun as you begin to implement step one. Focus on becoming gradually more comfortable financially, rather than "swinging for the fences" with each new business endeavor you take on.
Track your progress and income. Watch for small increases in income and build into your success.
Yes, there many stories of people who become fabulously wealthy "overnight". However, understand that this isn't the case most of the time. Normally, wealth is attained over time and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
If you're not careful, you can allow impatience to derail all your efforts. If you start comparing yourself to others or believe you should be further along than you are, you may be tempted to make foolish and short-sighted business decisions that can have dire consequences in the long-term outlook.
You may try a business venture that really doesn't match your personal strengths. You may focus for years on the wrong avenue simply because you didn't give the venture that matches you the correct amount of time to mature.
The lesson to learn today is to find the mindset that allows you to avoid chasing after "get-rich-quick" schemes and allows you to focus your efforts on the plan you set up for yourself. If you can do this, you will ultimately end up with the life you've always dreamed about.
Achieve a small goal and celebrate it. Achieve another and celebrate that one. Keep achieving and increasing your income step-by-step.
As you become more comfortable financially a little at a time, you also respect your financial abundance and success more. It never feels like you won the lottery or something. You know the time and energy you put in to achieve each step and it feels rewarding.
You'll enjoy the process a whole lot more, you won't rush through life (missing important family and personal occasions), you'll become more comfortable financially, and you'll have a wonderful life.
