Retirement Lifestyle Planning for Enjoyable RetirementRetirement lifestyle planning lets you live the life you want to live. For some people the retirement plan consists of working until retirement age, then trying to survive on their pension, their 401K, and whatever they can get out of Social Security. The unfortunate part of this plan is that many times it requires a complete change in lifestyle to make that plan work. A better option is to start doing some retirement lifestyle planning. That means, putting together a plan that will allow you to retire to a lifestyle that you will enjoy. After all, you worked your entire adult life to get to this place…shouldn’t you enjoy it? The first step in starting your retirement planning is to figure out what that lifestyle will look like. Each person’s retirement is different, so you need to take the time to figure out what it is you want to do. You may want to spend more time on the golf coarse, or out fishing, or going to restaurants and theaters. It isn't a one-size-fits-all plan, so your retirement lifestyle planning needs to be individualized for your retirement. Once you have determined how you want to live, you will need to start working to figure out how much that life will cost you. That is going to help you to know how much money you’ll need in your retirement fund. The next step is to figure out where the money is coming from to reach that financial goal. Your pension and 401K should be a part of that plan, but they are not the extent of your retirement funding. You need to come up with other streams of income as well. Some people choose to downsize when they reach retirement age. They sell their larger family home and move into a smaller home, or condominium. The extra money they get out of the sale of that house becomes another piece in the retirement financial puzzle. Some may even look into ways to generate more income when they reach retirement. Ready for Retirement – Your Retirement LifestyleFunding Your Chosen LifestyleGenerating additional income does not necessarily mean going out and finding more work, although if that is what you enjoy, then you should go ahead and pursue that option. Additional income could mean investing in real estate, or buying into a small business that will pay dividends you can use. It could also mean starting your own small business selling items, or even becoming a consultant. A lot of retirees are turning to online business opportunities as a way to generate an income that will help them live the life they enjoy. Many of these opportunities are inexpensive to get started with, and the skills that are needed are very easy to learn. In fact, if you can use email and surf the Internet, you already have the basic skills you need to get started. The key is, you should not rely on one or two areas to generate the income you’ll need to live your chosen lifestyle. The more different areas you have funding your retirement, the more secure your retirement funds will be during a slow economy. Retirement lifestyle planning does not mean adjusting your lifestyle according to your retirement funds. It means making sure you have the funds so you can live the life you want to live all through your retirement years. to Early Retirement Planning |
